Halo CE Rules

Individual Level Speed Runs

We prefer the runner to show the selection of Mission and Difficulty for verification purposes but the run will not be disqualified if omitted.

For failed attempts, we ask that runners re-start the Mission from the selection screen, not reset the mission and carry on. This applies to Legendary, No Shot, SLASO, and Pacifist runs but is not required otherwise. It is very important that runs are legitimate, it is also important that they appear to be legitimate to viewers outside of our community.

Carrying over weapons between levels is only allowed on Full Game speed runs.

Timing starts when you first gain FULL control of your character which includes both thumb sticks, aiming and movement, and ends when you last have FULL control of your character, and includes all in-mission un-skippable events and cut scenes.

Live Stream Individual Level Speed Runs

We prefer the runner to show the selection of Mission and Difficulty for verification purposes at the beginning of each live stream session. For failed attempts it is not necessary to re-start the Mission from the selection screen as long as it shows in the archive of the session the run was extracted from.

Carrying over weapons between levels is only allowed on Full Game speed runs.

Start the timer when you first gain FULL control of your character which includes both thumb sticks, aiming and movement, and ends when you last have FULL control of your character, and includes all in-mission un-skippable events and cut scenes.

We reserve the right to adjust the time based on examination of the video frames.

Individual Level records extracted from Single Segment live stream records, and failed Single Segment attempts, will be counted as World Records, so long as there were no carry-over weapons, skulls, or any other game-altering conditions at the start of the Mission. They must be submitted to the site as a distinct submission, with film cropped from the original capture, and with a note pointing to the original run being a record or not. We must have full access to the original film for verification purposes (Twitch link is fine). This is a new ruling so existing records will be protected by a grandfather clause.

Zero Shot

Zero Shot speed runs are similar to normal speed runs played on Legendary Single Player, and follow standard sped run rules, with these exceptions:

You may not pull a trigger which causes a projectile (beam plasma bolt, or otherwise) to fire from a weapon

Grenades, melee, and weapons used in a melee capacity are fully allowed.

You may drive vehicles, but not fire their weapons. You may have an A.I. gunner or passenger who is shooting.

Intentional splattering is allowed, and highly encouraged

Deaths and resets to Checkpoint are not allowed.

Pacifist

Pacifist Runs speed runs are similar to normal speed runs played on Legendary Single Player, and follow standard sped run rules, with these exceptions:

You may NOT:

  • Fire any weapons.
  • Use Grenades.
  • Melee, including unintentional melees where there are no enemies.
  • Use weapons in a melee capacity
  • Die
  • Reset to Checkpoint

You may drive vehicles, but not fire their weapons. You may have an A.I. gunner or passenger who is shooting. but only where the game will not let you proceed without such action. Splatter kills, intentional or unintentional, are NOT allowed.

Achievement Run

Get the MacGuffin and get it quick.

The Maw Legendary Achievement: Maw Run

Complete the Maw Run Legendary Single Player.

Rules: Player must not die. Filming must start from the checkpoint at the top of the elevator shaft and must continue until a few seconds into the ending cutscene. In-game timer must be visible.

Special rule: The time on this run is measured by the time left on the in-game countdown timer, not total run time. Thus, a run with a longer listed time is faster.

Entertainment Run

Any runs or video which defy the above classifications will be considered Entertainment Runs. These include runs like No Jump, Kill all Enemies, Compilations, Tributes, etc. They will be featured on the front page for entertainment purposes but will not show on the World Record Table.

Single Segment Speed Runs

From system power up to the final credits, the ultimate challenge is to finish the entire game in one sitting.

Offline Single Segment

We require the original game capture film in the original video format for verification purposes. We have the capacity to accept very large video files so re-encoding the video file is not necessary.

Live Stream Single Segment

We prefer Single Segment runs to be live streamed on Twitch.tv (using a split timer if possible) for verification and entertainment purposes. Please supply the original capture video along side the Twitch link if possible.

Due to the possibly of violating copyright laws it is imperative that runners DO NOT PLAY MUSIC in the background of the live stream, or broadcast music directly over the live stream. The normal music and musical score found in the game is allowed.

Run like hell.
