I'll try and do a route plan for this level soon. Obviously you can't do the real thing until you know exactly what weapons are being carried over from Cortana.
Key points:
Mad cool jump onto the spire – more direct, with grenade + hammer like on Easy and normal runs.
KILL THINGS – part of the triggers is having enemies dead, take out the flood as you're moving up the spire.
Weapon swap a few good weapons towards the control room to make passage to the hog easier.
Keep the hog flat n fast – avoid jumps except the big time-saving ones.

"Off the top of my head (because I ran this level so damn much) the fight outside the Control Room is hard – hard to do QUICK that is. Mostly because I don't think anyone ever figured out exactly what the spawn influences were so it comes off being kinda random."
You can skip the fight by doing it the pacifist way (going up and down the spire). Might be the fastest way.
Box Launching into Mordor.

I have been thinking about Chapter 2 (Special Guest Segment).
For the 343 battle should the player have Johnson's Laser?
To make the carry-over easier for the guest segment the primary runner should toss all their grenades, and empty the clip of their secondary weapon. We just have to determine what that secondary weapon will be.

You mean from outside? An infinite one? It is very slightly faster that way since you can switch weapons and fire without having to wait for the cooldown.

I have a request. Can you film an instructional video for the Chapter 2 Special Guest Segment? It would make it much easier to explain if we can provide a tutorial. It should show which weapons to carry and how to get the second laser.
The weapons are easy. Just have the laser and an empty AR (or whatever weapon you choose as secondary), zero grenades and Invincibility. When you do the run you can back match the weapons and grenades since you have plenty of time to empty the clips

No Invincibility on Legendary iirc. And it's actually better to have some ammo in the secondary weapon so you can switch it straight for Johnson's Lasers – he won't take an empty weapon.
I'll see what I can do.

I believe there is an Invincibility dropped at the base of the ramp (enclosed part) in front of the battle area but i am not sure if it is automatically lost from your inventory after the 343 scene. You could save a few seconds by not grabbing it if you think you could get through the Carrier Form hallway quickly without it. Although, with it you could use the exploding Carrier Forms to launch you down the hallway as the final trick of the game prior to the driving section.
I meant have an empty secondary, as the primary should be used to relieve Johnson of his Laser. At the very least you could have the same secondary as the ammo count does not show on the unequipped secondary in Halo 3.

Yep, thats where it spawns, but it's just not there on Legendary. That's why Cody didn't use it in his run.
If you do have equipment, yes, you can carry that through the Control Room segment.
If you skip to 4:31 in the below video, you can see what I thought we were talking about doing. Bring one (finite) laser from outside, then grab the infinite one inside the control room, and switch between both to take out 343 GS.

Edit: RC mentioned two lasers for the guest segment, well here's a brief example:
Been practicing Halo for a bit. Couple things:
- In comparison to Cody Miller's Legendary record, I've been able to shave off about 10 seconds at the most killing all the flood to open the doors. It's inconsistent though as A) killing all those flood quickly is easier said than done, and B) the overall number of flood seems to vary occasionally. I can maintain about a 5-10 second lead over his time for most of the level after that though.
- As for the guest segment, I empty my hammer using it to get distance inside the control room corridors, so it's always at 0 by the time the Spark fight starts so I'd recommend having that as the secondary. I can toss all my nades beforehand too if necessary. As for the primary weapon, it depends on what's closest to me when fighting the flood at the top. I'd prefer to go with the BR I can pick up near where the invincibility would be, but we'll see.
- As for carry over weapons from Cortana, may I suggest whoever runs it (it's looking like it'll be Eli) grabs a 100% charge energy sword as one of the weapons if possible. The other weapon/nades/equipment aren't too important, but it'll make my fight at the top of the spire much easier with a sword to kill the flood with.
