RC Master improves the Legendary time for The Package by 1:07 with this run.

The Ghost at Farragut Stn. being in an agreeable place to board and use to speed past the area seems to happen (for me) less than half the time. Like the Heroic run, I opted to sprint through the area which, surprisingly, seemed to work out ok. It is still luck-based though; it’s quite regular on Heroic but you can get cut to shreds very easily on Legendary.

I tried to be as quick and smooth as I could through most of the Scorpion section and Sword Base; the real time-sink is the fight at the Glacier.

Getting through the first wave fast seems to be a combination of killing the enemeis and activating the turrets (for some reason), so I make a point to have all the turrets active by the time I’m done with the enemies. The turrets help kill enemies anyway so it’s worth having them up.

In the middle of the Glacier fight there I attempted to hijack a new Banshee and failed at it miserably. I had to then make up the rest of the fight as I went along! I still had a DMR and PP and I vaguely remembered that a Spartan Laser killed a Hunter in two shots so I picked that up from in front of the doors and made use of it.

I ended up not doing too badly I thought, but you could surely do better if you had an actual pre-determined plan in place.

New time is 16:37.

Here it is folks, the run I have been working on for years.
Originally started this mission back in ’09 with the intention on beating Pahis.
Many controllers later, I’m extremely overjoyed about this, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I had almost given up with this run, but it wasnt untill I re-watched H1DS w/ Commentary that it had inspired me to give it one more last shot.

The run itself is pretty flawless, however, not completely. It pains me to say this, but it could go faster. The Wraith part in the first lakebed, taking out the Ghosts dragged on far too long. I could’ve saved a good 5-10 seconds there, had I landed the mortar shots quicker. I’m extremely happy with the rest of the mission though, it went exactly how I had planned.

You’ll see my excitement in the run itself, when I clear the final group of enemies and its a clear run to the finish line.

(in case you were wondering 1 over 31,536,000 is 2 seconds over 2 years – nok)

Cody Miller stopped by to remind us that this Friday (6th Jan) he will be speed running Halo: Reach in Speed Demos Archive’s (SDA) Awesome Games Done Quick 2012.

SDA are doing this for two reasons: Cool speed runs, and to raise money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

As expected, Cody Miller will be playing Reach on Legendary – so the run will share a lot with RC Master’s Legendary No-Deaths speed run from a couple of months ago. Whether or not Cody can manage to do the same with the pressure of a live-streamed run, and how his route differs from RC Master’s, we’ll have to wait until Friday to find out!

The Halo: Reach segment is scheduled to start at 5:10pm EST (22:10 UTC) and will be viewable from the SDA homepage.

We’ll remind you again closer to the time!
